Bluelab Design FAQs
What are LEDs?
LED is short for Light Emitting Diode. LED lighting is the latest and most exciting technological advancement in the lighting industry. LEDs are small, solid light bulbs which are extremely energy efficient and long lasting. At Bluelab Design we use them for a wide variety of applications such as residential lighting, architectural lighting, entertainment and gaming, commercial lighting, hotels and office buildings.
What exactly is bespoke lighting?
At Bluelab Design, we can individually or custom-make your lighting from whatever idea you have in mind – it is whatever the client wants. ‘Bespoke’ is not ‘off the shelf’ or a mass-produced product – bespoke lighting means that you will have a lighting solution that is created purely for you.
What kind of materials do you use in the production of your lighting?
Really, we can use almost anything the client wants. Recently we have introduced a range of timber lighting, locally made using Australian timbers and particularly Tasmanian Oak. Our Timber 60 and Timber 90 installations are not only sustainable, but elegantly crafted and a good fit for all living and working environments.
Do you work with projects of any size?
Bluelab Design are excited by any challenge that is presented to us. We are happy to work with you on a single lighting source, and equally happy to work with large organisations on the design and installation of major lighting projects. We have been proud of our project lighting work, such as the Mirvac project for their Laureate apartments and all the special lighting in the Crown Metropol hotel guest rooms.
