Bluelab Design uses LED lighting to increase energy efficiency in your home or businessApril 1 2014
The benefits of LED lighting are endless. Light Emitting Diode (LED) lights are extremely energy-efficient, cost-effective, durable and more.
Conventional light bulbs waste most of their energy as heat – a standard 50-watt halogen lamp turns 90 percent of electricity used into heat with only 10 percent into light, while a compact fluorescent bulb wastes 80 percent as heat. Compare this with LED lights – they use only 15 percent of the energy a standard halogen uses, providing up to 85 percent of the light output. This creates much less heat and also makes them cool. LED lighting is not only energy efficient but extremely cost-effective as air conditioning use can been lowered.
Longer life span
With a life span of up to 80,000 hours, you effectively cut maintenance costs as LED lighting lasts up to 8 to 10 times longer than standard halogen lamps.
LEDs have no filaments so can withstand a greater intensity of vibration and shock than standard lights, making them durable with a lower risk of breakage.
LEDs will start at full luminosity and brightness instantly. There is no flickering or fading in or out as is the case with standard compact fluorescent lights.
As most LED lighting operates at low voltage, they are cool to touch and much safer to handle during installation and maintenance.
LED lighting contains no mercury or other harmful gasses, nor does it emit any harmful UV rays. For example, a 13 watt LED light emits 68 percent less carbon dioxide than a standard 40 watt incandescent bulb running 10 hours per day.
