ETAP ESM Monitoring System

ESM with EST+ reports remotely, testing and diagnosing.

ETAP Lightings ESM Monitoring system is a comprehensive testing, diagnosing and remote reporting system that will support the Emergency and Exit system for years to come.  With the flexibility to offer wired, wireless, Dali, remote locations, fault alerts and fault rectification recommendations through components codes and orders directly to the factory.

Testing

Each ETAP Lighting Emergency and Exit luminaire has an inbuilt EST+ self-test, self-diagnosing in built.  Coupling the EST+ comprehensive self-testing with ESM monitoring system within an installation to report wiring faults, product function, battery health and duration, LED PCB health and safety.  The EST+ testing will cycle 2 weekly function test and 13 weekly battery health test, the result will be displayed on the indicator and with ESM these results will report back to ESM Web controller.

Showroom Screen
ETAP Lighting Belgium – Showroom display screen.

Overview – Easy function checks.

The above screen is a screen shot from ETAP Belgiums showroom system for training and display.  The screen display will offer a location of the product being displayed in the top left corner. The product being displayed in the lower screen will be highlighted in the mapping display.  The mapped area will show products within there area via unique identification codes.  Each monitored product manufactured by ETAP Lighting BNE will have a unique code, like a number plate.  This way LED binning, warranties and product specific information to support the monitored building into the future.  The ESM Operator will click on a product to the see the products health details listed below.

The lower screen ‘Details’ under the lighter blue dividing band shows the health as tested.  The unique code is shown – more details can be installed including product images and project type numbers. The left column is dedicated to the LED light source health ‘Lamp’.  A life expectancy gauge, component code information, as well as a replacement request offered – if the system is uploaded to the cloud and ETAP NV is included within the membership.  The ‘MODE’ button allows the ESM operator to change the mode from Non-Maintained to Maintained or visa versa.

Middle left column is ‘Battery’.  Like the ‘Lamp’ column the component code is represented, battery duration displayed (90+ minutes in Australia) along with a gauge that will show a bar to 180 minutes in Australia.  Of course a push ‘Register Battery Replacement” offers remote support for maintenance within the system.  All ETAP Lighting Emergencies and Exits are simply and easily renovated including NiMH Batteries that can be recycled without toxic waste.

Middle Right column displays ‘Test’ information. Test result displayed in a simple thumbs up or thumbs down.  If the product has a fault, the screen colour will change to alert the ESM Operator quickly.  Next test function and duration test schedule, manual test for that individual product.  Finally a ‘Test Setting” function where the operator can change the test cycle if needed.  If a room is being occupied during the test cycle schedule, the date can be changed or time.

The right column offer product information including installation dates.  A “Logbook” function can be used to view or print the products test history.

ETAP ESM monitored system can be used within a secure cloud based with restricted log-in access, or manually with access to the web controller via an ethernet cable.  The manual connection will still require login details for secure access to ESM to provide testing information.

ESM CAN monitor other branded Emergency and Exit Lighting Products.

That’s right!  ETAP ESM monitored system can monitor any other branded Emergency and Exit product via a Dali Gateway.  The other branded product will need to be Dali to be recognised by the system.

While ETAP’s ESM products monitor comprehensively including diagnosing for efficient repairs, ETAP are unique in the industry in this form of testing.  The common products on the Australian market offer function testing without a any notification of the fault or life left.  Most products do not offer duration testing for their batteries.  As this is built into the ETAP products via EST+, ESM cannot test other branded products to the same exceptional level as their own product.  The testing of other branded products will be tested to the usual product capacity.

ESM Support throughout the life of the installation

At the time of commissioning, a location administrator is allocated and trained by Bluelab Design staff.  The location administrator will have full access to the system including adding addition log-in accesses.  These additional log-ins can be restricted offering access only to the persons relevant role in the system.

Log-in support may include:  Maintenance staff, accredited testing Electrician, IT staff, Management, ETAP Lighting, Bluelab Design.

ESM monitoring system will send fault alerts to Maintenance and Electricians via text and/or email.  For immediate and up to date system support.  The system generated email alerts will include the fault and the rectification needed to resolve.  If the repairs are not fixed in within a test cycle, ESM will send additional reminders ‘nags’.  The faults cannot be over ridden and will only cease when the faulty Emergency or Exit is repaired.

If the system has ETAP Lighting and/or Bluelab Design added within the system access, Bluelab can support technically and with spare parts.  ETAP Lighting can receive orders from the ESM system for spare parts needed for the maintenance as the alerts are issued.

The system will also send alerts via texts and emails when there is an emergency or power outage.

With so many services needed for a modern functional building, all needing maintenance and testing under Australian regulations, it is not uncommon for other services to be disrupted with many services and trades within the ceiling cavities.  If an emergency is knocked or accidentally unplugged, the system will instantly pick up the product fault and register the time and send an alert if the system is supported remotely.  The system will report a wiring fault to be rectified.

Mapping

As previously discussed, when an ESM product is produced, it is provided with a unique serial number – like a car number plate.  Stickers with these numbers come with the product to be placed on the plans during installation in the approximate location of the installed product.  The serial numbers are recorded with ETAP Lighting BNE to support the project and system.

During commissioning the ESM system is prepared by Bluelab Technical support staff, uploading building plans and segregating the building into sections ie.  Sports hall, East stair case, conference room 1.   This makes locating products and/or faults seamless.  The installed map will appear on the Operational ESM screen left hand screen.

During commissioning the products are located via the unique codes and dropped into the locations provided during installation.  Our staff check the locations are correct by physically checking and manually testing each product.

Multiple Locations tested from one ESM system.

For institution like Universities, schools, hospitals, even industrial estates having multiple buildings can be a head ache for maintenance staff and time consuming.  ESM can monitor multiple locations securely, remotely and comprehensively via one central sytem.  Reporting from locations across multiple sites or one site with multiple buildings.  Emergency and Exit maintenance cycles can be planned in unison to save time and money.

ESM can be expanded

ETAP Lighting’s ESM system can be expanded during the life of the installation.  The system is supplied with a license (no annual license fees) according the building needs.  Additional licenses can be purchased (one off fee) if the installation is expanding through renovations or extensions.

Controlled easy test cycles

Busy commercial buildings often need to have zero disturbances, with conferences, performances etc.  ETAP’s ESM system can be programmed to test when the building is vacant or during down time.  If this cannot be done as an entire installation, individual products and locations can be isolated to test at different times.  Duration testing can be lengthy given the products run to drain the battery to 90 mins within the system.  This function can be programmed to suit the occupants of the building.
