E589 Apartments is being marketed to young professional couples; the location is inner city Melbourne on tram lines, close to Victoria Market.

EAT Architects worked with Bluelab Design to create a unique, playful and low-energy lighting design. Lighting was always a key element of the interiors, with a feature LED wall in the foyer and IP65 RGB strips on each balcony to create a kaleidoscope of colour at night. Each balcony will add to the fascia design at night.

The apartment lighting was under 5W per square metre, achieved by using few downlights and instead opting for wall uplights and task lighting.

The public area lighting is essentially all LED; from the linear lighting in the passages to the house street number lights, maintenance and energy will be very low.
